The Fourth Crusadeis the nickname given to theVenicefaction of Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms in the Crusades Campaign. As the Fourth Crusade is called on Byzantium, a 'Crusaders near Constantinople' message will flash to the Byzantine player, warning them that 'The Fourth Crusade, along with their Venetian allies led by Doge Enrico Dandola, have disembarked outside Constantinople to help.

The 'complex' of cities in Northern Italy (Florence, Venice, Genoa, Milan, Bologna) are owned by the faction of Venice. They are rivaled by the Holy Roman Empire, Milan and the Byzantine Empire.

Starting Position

Venice's Starting Position.

The Venetians start in the North of Italy and down the coast of Croatia. They have the HRE to the South (Bologna) and North, Hungary to the North East, Milan to the West and Byzantines to the East. It is coastal faction with one of their settlements on The Isle of Crete

Their settlements are:

  • Venice: Capital - Minor City
  • Iraklion: Town – Isle of Crete
  • Ragusa: Castle

Victory Conditions

  • Long campaign: Hold 45 regions including: Constantinople.
  • Short campaign: Hold 15 regions including: Eliminate Milan and Byzantines.

Unit Description
Well armoured, and equipped with a war hammer, these men are recruited to protect the far flung interests of the Venetian empire from many enemies, both at sea and on land. Their long hafted war hammers are designed to penetrate armour, making this heavy infantry unit a good choice for tackling armoured opponents.
